Cherophobia

2023

Woven painting (acrylic on cotton and linen), 65 x 125 cm.

Ten Thousand Movements, collective exhibition at Gallery Kannski, 2023

Your dutiful routine is a weak attempt at orderliness,

see-through and fragile like your own temporal existence.

The expected brings little comfort,

yet this beautiful tragedy holds you firmly until slowly you learn to fear happiness.

Whizz-Bang

2023

Woven painting (acrylic on cotton and linen), 63 x 125 cm.

The Icelandic Textile Association’s collective exhibition, Korpúlfsstaðir 2023.

Whizz-Bang is a woven painting, that is loosely based on a weaving technique which allows for painterly and fluid presentation in an otherwise rigid form of the woven structure. The piece is light and airy which adds to it’s resemblance to a watercolour painting.

Non-Tool / Ótól

2023

Textile sculpture (acrylic on handwoven cotton and linen, stuffing), 10 x 13 x 13 cm.

The Icelandic Textile Association’s exhibition at DesignMarch Reykjavik, Harpa Concert Hall, 2023.

Non-Tool is an unusable object that hints at the world of implements and gadgets which it does not belong to. Even so, it has its own qualities, such as softness, versatility and flexibility.

Non-Tool is a reflection on the value system pertaining to the so-called gendered characteristics and the lingering ideas about men’s and women’s work, which invites the consideration of the Non-Tool’s existence from a different perspective.
